Autumnal Muted Tones

54369335_10156068477781156_7858534062724481024_nHello and howdy, I have been needing some quick happy mail cards to send to far-away friends lately and this month’s challenge is Muted tones so I decided to do something quick and easy, that anyone can do with muted tones of watercolor or water-soluble ink and a coordinating colored ink for overstamping.

Your favorite stamps and sweet sentiment and you are off to the races. I am going to try something new here and expand this post over the next few days with some technique shots and some muted color palettes for those of you that may struggle with putting these together.  That part of this post will be ready the 21st so come back and visit again.

Muted TonesFor this card I used the Decadent Pies Watercolors by Prima and just used three of the colors with a big fat 1″ wide watercolor brush, you could use distress ink or Tombow markers with a water brush here too. The inspiration for this color palette was that green cardstock from Hero Arts it is named Pesto,  I thought it was absolutely perfect for this muted challenge. I then stamped directly on top of the dry watercolor stripes with Chocolate Brown ink multiple times in the Misti because the panel is watercolor paper.

I used the butterflies from the Antique Engraving set and that little sentiment is from the butterflies stamp and cut set.

Don’t forget to come back and visit again for more details and make a muted card to link to the challenge and you could win a giveaway of a $50 gift card to Hero Arts.

See you soon!
