These are always so hard to make when you really need a special one, so I do think it is a good idea to have some on-hand for the rough times when someone we know is dealing with a loss. These are the cards that get saved because they often hold sweet memories and words of deep friendship and thoughtfulness. So important these days.

Anyway, I wanted to use a color palette and design that would be understated and reflect the sort of untethered feeling loss gives us and at the same time offer a ray of color for remembrance and hope. I used the new reactive Fog ink, and Soft Olive and Fresh Peach Midtone colors on some Hero Arts Pebble cardstock which is a beautiful grey with a touch of brown. This is a single layer card just simple stamped with the woodblock poppy and the Flowers set, both are from the vault from Hero Arts past catalogs.  I used the Fresh Peach and Crushed olive inks on the poppy first and then added the smaller leaf stems in the Fog reactive ink on top.  Because the reactive ink has pigment in it sits on top of the shadow inks and is less transparent so you get a nice layering effect.

I trimmed the pebble layer down and white heat embossed the Sympathy sentiment from the Flowers set in Hero Arts white embossing powder on top. I glued this directly onto the card base and used a peachy/red envelope from my stash.

I made another card as well with a few more layers that is pictured below, for the additional layers I stamped the bold prints in fog reactive ink on dove white cardstock and on top of that I placed a rectangle stamped with the Aged Shadow stamp and again the Real Poppy and Flowers set all from the vault.

I hope these inspire you to pull out your woodblock stamps and make something that might ease another through a sad time.
