Dimensional Flower Card_My Monthly Hero_April

This month’s kit is all about flowers and watercoloring! Hero Arts created a floral stamp set that is perfect for coloring.  I chose to copic color my card and used BV11, BV00 BV01 and V12 then I also used two inktense pencils to add the bright chartreuse green and dark purple details over the top, I really like layering the colored pencil on top of the copic color.

Also with the kit was a  Daniel Smith sample dot card of their watercolors, in a palette just for Hero Arts, these colors were a little muted for my taste, but very high quality with LOTS of pigment.

I was most happy with the matching paper layering die, that allows you to die cut parts of the leaves to create dimension, and you can lift, bend and curl them to make them look more real.

A couple of other added notes that I think made alot of difference…using the darker paper in a matching color adds to the dimension and shadow of the raised leaves and I cut a straight line up to the die cut edges of the dimensional flower which makes it pop off.

Also I was not going to color the bottom flower at all and after doing it still feel it would be an even better card with just a plain flower below it. I will post that one next as well as some pretty flowered boxes I am making for Mothers day gifts.

Enjoy! Lee Ann
